It was with very heavy hearts that we received the sad news in April that our Chairman Dennis Bater had passed away. Dennis lived in and around Hatherleigh his whole life and was involved over the years, not just with the many groups, organisations and causes he supported in the town, but also in a civic role having served as Mayor of both Hatherleigh Town and West Devon Borough Councils. He knew so much about the area and would talk enthusiastically about the history of the town and its families, always having an appropriate tale to tell! He is greatly missed by his many friends.
