Hatherleigh School during WW1, they were dressed to represent the countries who had joined forces and were allies . Notice there were very few boys in attendance as they were helping with the harvest whilst their fathers were away fighting. This was just before the school was closed for a couple of weeks because the Spanish Flu had reached Hatherleigh and surrounding areas.
